Becoming Established in the Scriptures

The overall objective of this study is to help each person develop skill and confidence in handling the Word—accurately understanding its meaning and habitually applying it to life. Specifically, this means that each individual would:

• Gain a basic ability to handle the Word skillfully and accurately, with a special focus on the importance of ascertaining the author's intended message of a passage or book.
• Gain a basic understanding of the overall “worldview” of the Scriptures, contrasting it with the “worldviews” of today, leading to an assessment of his own life purposes and goals from God's perspective.
• Become aware of some of the basic Bible study aids available and lay plans for building a personal mini-library.
• Design a basic Bible study plan and accompanying habits, which would be the basis for pursuing substantive lifelong learning.
